The Motz GroupSM History
Growth in athletic programs during the 1990's brought new challenges as the demand for access to fields overburdened most institution's resources. The result was a steady decline in field playing quality due to overuse. Having recognized the problems created by these increased demands, The Motz GroupSM once again committed itself to developing an answer to the need for more stable and durable natural grass playing surfaces. These efforts lead in 1998 to the introduction of TS-II™, a revolutionary synthetic stabilization system for natural turf athletic fields. TS-II™ provided greater surface stability and enhanced wear tolerance. The additional benefits of transportability and immediate playability made it an instant success with the NFL, the Olympics and multi-use facilities where maintenance of a premier playing surface was not only expected, but also demanded. The Motz GroupSM's position as the worldwide leader in the development of new, cutting edge field technologies lead to an even greater focus and commitment on the part of the entire organization to the athletic field market. In 1998, the residential/commercial lawn care division of The Motz GroupSM was sold in order to commit all of its time, attention and resources to the high performance athletic field industry. This singular focus further strengthened and enhanced The Motz GroupSM's position as a leader in the design and development of specialty natural and artificial turf surfaces and field systems for the high-end athletics market. During this same time period, widespread change was also occurring in the artificial turf side of the athletic field market. Traditional knitted and tufted nylon fields were rapidly being replaced by third-generation "synthetic grass" technologies that utilized long synthetic fibers to simulate natural grass blades and a crumb rubber based fill material to simulate the rootzone material. The Motz GroupSM immediately recognized the inherit advantages of the new technologies over existing conventional artificial turf and, as it had done with PAT®, HPG® and TS-II™, immediately set about the research and development necessary to create a synthetic grass system of the highest quality. While other competitors rushed products to the market, often leading to unsafe conditions that caused games to be cancelled and in some cases fields to be closed and replaced, The Motz GroupSM was unwilling to experiment on its clients' fields. They delayed introducing their own system until they were sure that all of the knowledge, experience and resources were in line to assure the success of each field they installed. Out of this development came the introduction of 24/7™, a 100% rubber-filled synthetic grass field system, and 24/7-SR™, a sand/rubber blended system, to which The Motz GroupSM is proud to attach its name and reputation. Today, The Motz GroupSM enjoys international recognition for its innovation and integrity. Their professional approach and commitment to continual technical advancement facilitates stringent quality control, assures accountability and promotes long-term commitment to the client and ultimately, to the success of each project. |
